Background and Context The firm is one of the world’s leading providers of IT/ITES solutions with multiple delivery locations and thousands of employees with laptops. Laptop movement traceability and authentication is paramount given confidential client data in these machines. Client wanted an easy, hassle-free and scalable solution to achieve this objective to replace current manual processes which are time-consuming and error prone. Solution Designed and developed a system with following components: 1. Passive RFID tags on laptops with spatially optimized readers that read data automatically 2. Pre-programmed tags with employee details for localized authentication 3. Mobile Android tablet display of details and photo for security guards 4. Workflows integrated into current processes without additional hassles Business Impact Our solution gave the client the following benefits: 1. ~90% reduction in queue time at entry and exit 2. Better compliance procedures now in place 3. Fool-proof system for security to authenticate ownership thereby eliminating manual errors
